News and Announcements
Dear Imperial Beach Girls Softball families,
As you are all aware, our Spring season was cut way too short by the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. I am hoping that this letter finds you all healthy and safe. I was beyond hopeful that we would be able to salvage the second half of our season and continue on with championship play through the All Star season. For the past two months, the IBGS Board has been meeting and preparing for a return to the fields. Unfortunately, as much as it hurts to say, we have decided to officially cancel the Spring 2020 season. The current climate and re-opening protocols do not give us a determined date that would let us complete any type of Spring / Summer season.
Additionally, we are getting close to the point of beginning the regularly scheduled Fall Ball and GFL seasons. For those that are not aware, IBGS enters teams into the GFL league in the fall. These teams are made up through a tryout and resemble the higher level of play consistent with the All-Star season.
Since the Spring season was cut short, there will be a 50% discount off the Fall ball registration or next Spring registration for any girl that was registered in the league during the Spring of 2020. This discount does not apply to GFL. We do not operate the GFL league and the pricing is not set by us. GFL teams also have the option of entering other competitive tournaments at an additional cost to the team. As of now, we are planning on having the GFL tryouts in the middle of July for play that runs through the beginning of November.
Our fall ball registration will open in July, and we will try to run it a little longer as well, to make up for the Spring season that was cut short. Please stay tuned for exact dates for fall ball registration and GFL tryouts as well as pricing for each. If any significant changes should develop prior to this we will address them at that time.
I appreciate you all and your patience with us during these times. This is something that is new to us all and I genuinely feel horrible for the kids having to deal with this without their friends, without their school and without being able to play their favorite sport.
